All clinical staff providing counseling services at Insights are at least master’s level, licensed and certified providers. All clinical staff adhere to the highest clinical standards including ongoing education and training in best practice of the clinical treatment.
Richard M. Cole, Insights founder and president
Mr. Cole earned his Bachelor’s of Psychology at Rutgers University in New Jersey. He earned his Master's degree in Psychology from the State University of New York at Albany. Mr. Cole is a South Carolina Licensed Professional Counselor and holds the SAP (Federally registered Substance Abuse Professional) credential, and the CEAP (Certified Employee Assistance Professional) credential. Mr. Cole is a Master Addictions Counselor (MAC) and maintains his CCS (Certified Clinical Supervisor) credential. Mr. Cole has been a behavioral health practitioner for 30 years. Edward N. Middleton, LPC
Masters in Rehabilitation Couseling from the University of South Carolina School Of Medicine, Licensed as a Professional Counselor since 2000.
Retired from the VA Hospital system where he was employed in Mental Health/Rehab Medicine as a GS-11 Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor. Initially assigned to their Homeless Veterans Program where he worked for 8 years.
Prior non-federal assignments include direct services counselor, program consultant, first line supervisor for several clinical teams including Adolescent Services team and one assignment at Administrator level as an Assessment Center Director in the SC state system.
He’s also taught courses in collegiate environments as well as performing workshop trainings for agencies. His second assignment as a counselor was with the SC Dept. of Probation and Parole via Charleston County Dept. of Drug and Alcohol Services, where he and his fellow team members garnered over 5 years of work experience in a forensic environment at a treatment center established on the grounds of one of the minimum security institutions for the SC Dept. of Corrections.
His areas of specialty are: Substance Disorders, PTSD and Veterans Readjustment, Adolescent Behavior, Anger Management, Domestic Violence, Forensics, Psychopharmacology, Vocational Rehabilitation, EAP and Grief. Main therapeutic approaches; CBT and REBT but trained in others. Counseling formats experience; Family, Group and Individual. Has been in a personal program of recovery from substance abuse since April 17, 1990.

H. Alan Miller, MS, Office Manager and Case Manager, earned his Bachelor's of Biblical Education at Columbia Bible College (now Columbia International University). He earned his Masters in Personal Counseling at Grand Canyon University. Mr. Miller has 13 years experience as a private investigator and is a retired SC State Probation and Parole agent.
